Since updating to iPadOS 26.1, the large widget I’ve been using shows the “Loading…” message and never updates, even after following the instructions given and tapping the refresh button. I’ve tried removing and re-adding it, tried restarting the iPad, etc. The small and half-height widgets show albums as expected.

I've tracked down the issue specific to the large widget when it's set to "Different day, different order". A fix is in the works.

Tim Baumgard Does changing any of the widgets settings, in particular turning of "Different day, different order" by any chance make it work? iOS caches the state of the widget it first fetched, so even if you change settings and it works for the new settings or sizing, if you go back to your original setting, it'll appear broken again as it uses that old cached state. I haven't yet figured out how to address that but it usually solves itself after a day as it'll get out of that broken cached state.

Adrian Schönig I previously tried changing various widget settings, including the "Different day, different order" one, with no result, but changing it and also the sort order seems to have gotten it to work. I can even change it back to negligence to get it to work similar to how it used to. Disabling the "Different day, different order" setting makes it stop working as you described.
Some other notes: The widget displays properly in the widget-adding screen. Messing around with the widget settings often causes resprings. I don't think it's related, but there's probably an exception or two happening in there.
