Carplay can't resume existing session

Repro is something like:

start playing album at home
maybe airplay from phone to Mac
stop playback in middle of album
force quit app or wait for it to be purged from memory
start car/carplay
open longplay in carplay
no "currently playing" indicator, and no way to resume existing album/session
pick up phone, open longplay app, and swipe from right edge to see current album/session and hit play button

I'm currently on iOS 17 beta, but this happens even on RC builds.

"Recently Played" item has been added to CarPlay in 2.1.1, out now.

Good timing with this report as I was investigating a related CarPlay issue anyway. This shall be fixed in the next update, which will inject a "Recently Played" item into the first tab in this case.

Thank you for the detailed steps to reproduce. 
The "current playing" indicator is managed by CarPlay itself, so this might be intended behaviour from Apple when playback is stopped.
However, Longplay itself is aware of that previous session, so I should be able to inject a button or row into Longplay's CarPlay interface to resume that previous session.
