Integrate with Apple Music

My upvote only is for the part of faving songs inside of Longplay as I understand the downsides of having a common queue. Additionally, faving should add the favourite status in Lastfm/ListenBrainz too.

Refer to screenshots attached for reference. It would avoid inconstancies where Longplay is showing a different album is playing to what the Apple Music widget is showing. This applies to both home screen widgets as well as the new Standby mode widgets. Ideally if I start album from Longplay it should also show as playing in Apple Music too.

Ben Kemal: Yeah, that is expected and intended behaviour. Longplay manages its own music player. This is a requirement to allow various of its features — the track list, album queue, infinite album shuffle, CarPlay support, and even those widgets.
I'm evaluating using the shared player with the Music app as an opt-in option. It will mean the playback state is shared. However, the Music app owns it, and Longplay then just works as a way to start playback, and Longplay doesn't reliably get informed of playback changes of the Music app (as it's not in charge of the player). So you can end up with the same problem but worse where Longplay would indicate an album as still playing even though the Music app might have switched to a different one...

Ben Kemal If this features is addressed then what would also extend to Apple Music's Now Playing widget.

Integration with Apple Music app widget to show now playing song
Ben Kemal
If you initiate playing album from Longplay would be great to show the current song playing in the Apple Music Now Playing widget too.

Album playback doesn’t show up in Apple Music

Both playback controls and history aren’t showing up in Apple Music. I’m currently on version 2.1.1 and iOS 17.0.2

This was an intentional switch on my end to enable various of the new features like the track list, resuming an album where you last stopped, and CarPlay support.
It indeed means that Longplay's live playback isn't reflected in the Music app itself and Apple Music doesn't show that in "Recently Played" there. Though Apple Music still keeps track of the play counts and your Longplay listens will feed into your Apple Music suggestions, your yearly recap, etc.
I'm considering adding an advanced setting to the app where you can opt into the old behaviour and it'll warn you of the downsides or disable the unsupported features then.

Adrian Schönig I would definitely use this advanced setting! Is there an update on release?
