I would love it if playlist artworks were displayed!

I get the idea of differentiating them in the library, but maybe the playlist artwork could at least be shown in the Now Playing screen. Some playlists have very nice artworks, so showing them would make the playlists feel a bit more like (compilation) albums or like a CD someone burned for you.

Thanks for the suggestion. That is the expected design in Longplay 2.0. The idea is to differentiate playlists more visually from albums when you're viewing both, but agree that it's a bit bland when only viewing playlists.

From a technical side, the way Longplay is currently accessing your playlists doesn't include a way to also get the playlist artwork from Apple Music, but I'd like to investigate alternative ways which would then include those artworks.
